How Can Our Children Become More Active?

What About Resources?

California policy makers should seek to create stable funding sources to support implementation of the above policies, as well as other physical activity promotion endeavors. In the immediate future, they can also support the following Federal programs that can provide resources to sustain efforts to promote physical activity to California's children:

  • Improved Nutrition and Physical Activity Act (IMPACT)

  • Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative

  • Carol M. White Physical Education for Progress (PEP) Program

  • Safe Routes to School Program

  • United States Department of Agriculture's Food Stamp and Nutrition Network programs
